In Munich, when I operated a shop for custom-printed interior design products, I was asked to produce a custom wallpaper for an Elle Deco Magazine feature, themed around Italian lifestyle and elegance. I was given a fairly uninteresting colour photo of an Italian street scene with a design concept for a red and white room. After "photoshopping" the image, applying hard contrast and creating a duplex print for the background, the art director and photographer decided for the image with the strongest colour. As shown above the custom wallpaper for this Italian theme in red and white worked pretty well with the assembled furniture and other red-coloured decoration.
In general, the use of wallpaper as decoration background is an easy and affordable, budget-friendly way to create a room and atmosphere that sets the mood for the moment.
